Anoniversity is intended for users who are at least 18 years old and currently affiliated with a supported university through a valid school email address.
How we protect you
School email verification
Only real students with verified institutional emails can participate. This significantly reduces bot and troll accounts.
Publicly anonymous, privately verified
Real email addresses are never shown to other users. You interact anonymously, but the platform privately retains your verified school for moderation and abuse investigation.
Human moderation
All reports are reviewed by moderators. Posts, comments, and chats that violate guidelines are removed. Repeat offenders are banned.
Report button on everything
Every post, comment, and chat has a report button. Reports go directly to moderators. You never have to deal with bad actors alone.
Block and mute
You can block users in chat. Blocked users cannot be matched with you again. You can also mute users from your feed.
Keyword filtering
An automated filter catches the most egregious content before it reaches other users. Our moderators can update the filter list anytime.
Trust score system
All users start with a trust score of 50. Confirmed violations lower it. Users with very low scores face additional restrictions. Users in good standing maintain or improve their score over time.
Rate limits
Posting, commenting, and messaging are rate-limited to prevent spam floods. Matching has cooldowns to prevent abuse.
Campus Match Safety
Campus Match is an opt-in feature that connects verified students based on school and shared interests. It is not a random stranger-chat service. Every session includes the following protections:
- • All chats display a notice: "This chat is anonymous. Messages may be reviewed if reported."
- • You can leave any chat at any time with one tap.
- • You can report your match and the session immediately.
- • Blocked users cannot match with you in future sessions.
- • Chat messages are not end-to-end encrypted and may be reviewed by moderators if reported.
- • Voice chat (if available) is peer-to-peer and not recorded by Anoniversity.
