Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Short version: Your school email is used only for login and verification. It is never shown to other users. We do not sell your data. Anonymous posts and comments are stored in our database. Chats may be reviewed if reported.
1. What We Collect
When you sign up and use Anoniversity, we collect:
- • School email address: used only for authentication via Supabase. Used to verify your school. Never shown to other users.
- • Anonymous profile data: your chosen anonymous username, school tag preference, avatar color, trust score.
- • Content you create: posts, comments, reactions, chat messages, poll votes, reports you submit.
- • Usage data: timestamps of actions (for rate limiting and moderation), not behavioral tracking.
- • Consent timestamps: when you accepted the Terms, Privacy Policy, and Community Guidelines.
2. What We Do NOT Collect
- • Real names, student ID numbers, or photos
- • SMS numbers or phone data
- • Browser fingerprints or device identifiers beyond what Supabase captures in auth sessions
- • Location data
- • Voice recordings (voice chat is peer-to-peer and not recorded by us)
3. How We Use Your Data
- • To authenticate you and keep your session active
- • To verify your school and assign your anonymous identity
- • To display your anonymous posts, comments, and profile to other verified users
- • To enable real-time matching and chat
- • To enforce rate limits and detect spam
- • To investigate and act on abuse reports
- • To send in-app notifications (not email marketing)
4. Your Email and Anonymity
Your school email is never displayed to other users under any circumstances.
The platform maintains a private mapping between your email and your anonymous identity solely for moderation purposes, so that if you post abusive content or are reported, administrators can take action. This mapping is never exposed in the public-facing UI.
Other users see only your anonymous username (e.g., "QuietDragon42") and your school tag if you enable it (e.g., "Anonymous Ateneo Student").
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We use Supabase as our backend and authentication provider. Supabase stores your email in their authentication system. Refer to Supabase's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.
In cases of serious legal threats (court orders, law enforcement requests), we may be required to disclose account information. We will notify affected users unless legally prohibited.
6. Data Retention
- • Active accounts: data retained while account is active
- • Deleted accounts: profile data removed within 30 days of deletion request approval
- • Posts and comments: may remain in anonymized form after account deletion
- • Moderation records: retained for 12 months after resolution
- • Action logs (rate limiting): retained for 30 days
7. Your Rights
- • Access: You can view your profile, posts, and activity in the app.
- • Correction: You can update your anonymous username and settings.
- • Deletion: You can request account deletion from your Profile Settings page.
- • Portability: Contact us to request an export of your data.
8. Cookies and Sessions
Anoniversity uses cookies only for session management through Supabase Auth. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform grows. Significant changes will be announced via in-app notifications. Your continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
